Former wrestling star Billy Jack Haynes recently appeared in Vice’s documentary series Dark Side of the Ring, and is considered untried for murder charges by 85-year-old Janette Becraft.
The court orders mental health treatment
On Wednesday, Multnomah County Judge Angela Lucero ordered William Albert Haynes (known as professional Billy Jack Haynes) to commit to Oregon State Hospital after deciding that she could not help her defense.
According to a report by Katu News, a Portland ABC affiliate, the decision came after a statement from a counsel and provisions from both the defense and prosecutor who confirmed his mental ineligibility after the acclaimed evaluator examined Haynes’ actions during court proceedings.

Haynes was arrested in February 2024 and faces second-degree murder charges for intensifying domestic violence and illegal use of weapons related to Becraft’s death. Details about the alleged murder have not been made public. Because it is publicly available as it includes the indictment of a secret large ju trial where no affidavit has been filed.
The former wrestler waived his right to a preventive detention hearing (similar to a bail hearing) twice in April and May 2024.

The court is scheduled for another May 20th Haynes fitness hearing, but his trial, although set for December 2025, is unquestionable. Court records show that Haynes could commit to Oregon State Hospital for a year to three years while undergoing treatment.
