The release of AEW and departures in all forms were rare occurrences during the first few years of promotion, but things have been covered.
Over the past few months, there have been many exits, including some celebrities, since joining WWE.
Here is the background on 11 recent AEW departures, time with the company and what they did next.
11. Aleister Black
Aleister Black, who used the name Malakai Black at AEW, left the company in February 2025.
Black first joined AEW in June 2021 after being released by WWE, but in 2022 he requested his AEW release, at which point the request was denied.
Three years later, he left the company and returned to WWE, formerly the NXT champion and reverted to the name Aleister Black.
He was assigned to the Smackdown brand, where he won over Miz and Calmelo Hayes since his comeback.
