In one of the best Smackdown women’s matches in a long time, Tiffany Stratton defended the WWE Women’s Championship in a brutal and emotionally recharged main event against Nia Jax. The showdown included everything, including an ending where Jacks’ face exploded virtually and carelessly as Stratton took a shot of the chair after dropkicking it.
Jacks was great in defeat, bleed in a hard way
The match was full of intense physicality and was one of the most dramatic visuals of the year. It ended with a bloody face on Jax’s face, and Stratton escaped narrowly with her title.
The match continued its long-term rivalry between Stratton and Jacks, dating back to the bank cash-in of Stratton’s banks when he abdicated Jacks and began reigning as champions on January 3, 2025. On Friday night, Jax was the first woman to be kicked out of the most beautiful Moonsaw ever, and appeared to be trying to get her title back. Former champion Naomi defeated the ramp during the match and apparently targeted Stratton, only to be intercepted by Jade Cargill. When the two fought from the photo, Jacks fell on a corner strutton and came within inches of victory when Stratton approached before barely grabbing the bottom rope.
Jacks couldn’t believe Stratton had escaped the pin so she tried to leave the title despite not winning it. When she returned to the ring and the officials were distracted, she tried to bring in a chair. At that moment, Stratton dropped kicked it, and the chair hit Jacks in the face. The camera barely caught one of the match’s most shocking moments as Jax maintained a serious cut in his head, bringing a graphic scene that WWE seemed to have tried to separate. The crew of the announcement did not admit it, but it was clear that the cut was deep.
Stratton holds her women’s championship
Stratton’s victory means that his rivalry with Jacks is over, but respect should go to Jacks. Not only is Jacks a great opponent, he also shot the chair like a pro, despite his unintentionality. She wasn’t blowing the blade because wrestlers usually might do to shed blood. This wasn’t a planned part of the match, but it certainly added to it.
All eyes remain Stratton and the next as Nia Jacks recovers from the loss of a fierce battle, and Naomi and Cargill continue to circle the title photos.
