Previously, it was known to many wrestling fans because Jeff Cobb officially received the new WWE ring name. The superstar revealed in this week’s WWE Smackdown episode is known as JC Mateo.
The change was signalled during the opening segment of SmackDown when Solosicore introduced him as simply “JC” despite being called Jeff Cob by the comments in his shocking debut at WWE Backlash earlier this month. WWE later confirmed its full name JC Mateo via official YouTube uploads following the segment.
WWE submitted the trademark “JC Mateo” on May 10th. In Smackdown he was attacked by a fierce Lana Knight who was seeking revenge after Mateo intervened in a WWE US Championship match at the WWE Backlash.
Mateo’s interference helped Jacob Fatu retain the title against the Knight. You can see the following segments:
