The Texas sons become double champions with Double or Nothing and defeat CRU during “AEW Collision” to secure their chances at the World Tag Team Championship held by The Hurt Syndicate.
Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara re-emerged in AEW after Bobby Rushley and Shelton Benjamin called out for challengers, winning the ROH tag title, with Rhodes winning the six-tag tag champions of ruler along with Bon Eritz. But what got in their way was when the Rio Rush and Action Andretti team defeated their fellow title top flights in April. In the match, the ROH champions began to get stronger, and Cru controlled in the ring before turning back momentum, lying outside with an inappropriate attack.
They isolated Rhodes inside the ring and then fought to make a hot tag into Guebara. Guevara’s run was short, and he found himself isolated in the ring as Rhodes became incapacitated and recovered in the apron. Rhodes went back to fold and broke the pinfall attempt, and Guevara gained an advantage over Andretti, eventually landing GTH for a winning pinfall. As a result, Guevara and Rhodes will challenge Double or Nothing in the AEW World Tag title, becoming the fifth title defense of The Hurt Syndicate’s reign.
