John Cena is currently on the heel, but the indisputable WWE Champion received a chilly reception at ECW One Night Stand 2006 despite being a babyface. Speaking at the Philadelphia Fan Expo, Cena recalled the hostile reaction she had when she stepped into the Hammerstein Ballroom to face Rob Van Dam.
“The audience was pretty bad. The event started around 7am and continued to last. Around 7am, they were chanting “f-you cena” to hear, so when we went out at 10am, it would be pretty bad.”
With his head down to win the title, Cena headed towards the ring for the booing chorus. In his speech, Cena shared that he did things he never dreamed of doing again in his career.
“It was the stupidest decision of my life, but I said to Rob, ‘Hey, let’s go out in the audience.’ And I just wanted to see what would happen… I thought I was going to kick my a**. ”
Cena is grateful for fans to let their voices hear and put in the incredible show to the experts without resorting to violence. As Cena accepts being a villain again, the invisible 17 people have not forgotten the importance of fans who know that they will not acquire a body.
