AEW Stars criticise the Shrek wrestling scene, celebrating the 24th anniversary of the original film release

The animated film “Shrek” had a wide-ranging release in theaters on May 18, 2001, and the film has since become a touchstone for many millennials who grew up on it. It’s likely that fans in the wrestling industry will remember that “Shrek” features scenes where the honorable egg and his companion donkey step into the ring for a short tag team match with several castle guards. Commenting on a clip from the scene on social media platform X, Aew Star Mansoor shared the issue with Shrek’s work.

In a direct response to the post, Mason Madden questioned his tag team partner’s decision to develop Shrek’s skin color. However, that didn’t stop Mansoor from continuing his online tilade, but he switched targets. The wrestler humiliated the superhero by calling him a backyard wrestler after the commenter raised the cage match scene from Samurai’s original “Spider-Man.”

“The worst look I’ve ever seen,” Mansoor said of Spider-Man’s wrestling gear. “Remember that a human spider cut off a homophobic filming promotion with Bonesaw and his husband in the middle of the match. He then cried out about his PO, despite time passed, and refused to drop his belt. Hopefully his uncle will be killed in a robbery.”

Recently, Mansoor and Madden have appeared in ROH under the name MXM Collection. Monica is associated with WWE’s history as the biggest male model. The two were released by that promotion in 2023 before joining AEW last summer. Plus, they continue to appear in independent scenes from time to time.
