Former WWE star Maven offered his thoughts on AEW after seeing the promotion behind the scenes on the “AEW Collision” show.
Maven sneaks into the AEW show in a recent video on his YouTube channel, meeting some of his former colleagues at WWE and some young stars from AEW. Maven walked past security and went behind the scenes, having a conversation with Goldust (aka Goldust), whom he had faced several times in WWE. He praised the veteran star and thanked him for carrying him through his only WrestleMania match. He then met another former WWE colleague of his Billy Gunn, praised his physique and realized the happiness he was radiating when he spoke to him.
“I never know he looks better now than I first started working with him in 2002. The guy isn’t old and somehow he added more muscle,” he said of cancer. “Obviously you can say, he’s happy in the house he found here in AEW.”
Maven then met Thunder Rosa. He explained to him how she came up with her face paint and congratulated her on her success in professional wrestling. “first time [I’m] Meet her. Thunder Rosa – one of the best and one of my favorite gimmicks is going now. I met her on my day,” he said.
He later met with Kevin Matthews, new AEW recruits, and his former tough buddy, Josh Matthews, who shook hands with several stars. He commented in particular about the shaking shaking behind the scenes at AEW. “There’s one thing I found myself here behind the scenes in an AEW collision: it’s a handshake. Even the stars I’ve never met before have met Thunder Rosa early today.
Maven also interacted with Scotty 2 Hotty, Anthony Bowens and, finally, President Aew, Tony Khan.
