WWE legend Sean Michaels believes NXT has reached a level of recognition and appreciation that suits its quality, calling it “the purest, the best, the most exciting aspect” ahead of the brand’s Battleground event.

In a recent interview with Brad Gilmore of Reality Wrestling, the WWE Hall of Fame and the head of NXT Creative expressed their enthusiasm for the current momentum of the development brand.

“It’s an incredible time for NXT, and the excitement and energy are obvious,” Michaels said. “I think everyone will finally see NXT about what it is. That’s the purest, best, most exciting aspect of all wrestling.”

Michaels attributes the brand’s surge in momentum to two key factors: a television partnership with the CW network and a passionate roster of developing hungry talent to prove himself.

“NXT is now enjoying incredible momentum, much of it due to an incredible partnership with the CW, but only the young men and women who are passing through our doors,” Michaels explained. “They’re very hungry. They’re very passionate. All they want to do is ultimately become a raw and smackdown superstar and give every ounce of your presence when they play every night.”

“Heartbreak Kid” also highlighted the importance of getting NXT talent experiences on the road, highlighting the upcoming Tampa Show as a valuable development opportunity.

“When we get the opportunity to get out on the road, first of all, they’re excited about the opportunity to do that, but that’s very important to their development,” Michaels noted.

“We do our best to take advantage of it. They’re all like wild stallions, and we do our best to take advantage of it, and sometimes they can put a lid on when they’re in Orlando, but whenever they go out on the road, they’re ready to loosen up in that ring.”

WWE’s Memorial Day Weekend Takeover in Tampa features Saturday night’s main events, Battlegrounds, Monday Nightrow and NXT, and Michaels is sure to continue to showcase what makes the brand a must-see programming for professional wrestling fans.
