Two more matches were added to the “WWE NXT” battleground card on Sunday, including a women’s North American Championship match. After fighting for a shot at Sol Ruca for a few weeks, Kelani Jordan defeated Tag team partner Zaria in Tuesday’s episode to score a shot at the premium live event. The match is RUCA’s first televised title defense since winning the championship in a ladder match in stands and delivery over WrestleMania weekend.
A six-man tag team match has also been added. Culling’s Shawn Spears, Brooks Jensen and Niko Vance will join NXT tag team champions Hank Ledger and Tank Walker alongside Josh Briggs. The match took place after Spears and Briggs faced off, but Iji Dam interfered in the match and recorded Briggs. Spears rolled up Briggs for the victory and after the match before the tag team champions came to his aid, culling continued to beat him.
Battleground features three other title matches, including the NXT Championship Match, in which Oba Femi defends Myles Borne. NXT women’s champion Stephanie Verker defends Jordin Grace, while the Ricky Saints win Ethan Page for the North American title. The TNA Championship will be defended for the first time at the “NXT” premium live event when Joe Hendry and Trick Williams Square are turned off.
