Kenny Omega revealed why Hikaru Shida was absent from AEW TV throughout 2025.

During a recent Twitch stream, Omega revealed that the former three-time AEW women’s champion had been in Japan’s home country for months awaiting a visa renewal. In the interim, Omega took on the Cat Sitting duties for Ceda.

“Unfortunately, every few years, everyone has to return to their home country and re-up their visa,” Omega explained. “I would have hated her cat being alone. He said that Ceda’s cat “gets separation anxiety,” but he got along well with his cat, Dobby, and said, “Like, fun. I’ll do it anytime. It’s not a chore.”

Shida last wrestled with AEW in November 2024, losing to Kris Statlander. While awaiting US visa renewal, she continues to work in several Japanese wrestling promotions. Currently, no timeline has been confirmed for returning to the AEW competition in the US.
