The third hour of WWE SmackDown may last longer than expected

WWE Friday Night SmackDown will continue in a 3-hour format on the USA network until early June 2025.

According to a report from Pwinsider.com, the USA Network internal list continues to show SmackDown, scheduled for a three-hour episode during that period.

This is noteworthy. Because when SmackDown moved to the USA Network and expanded its runtime earlier this year, my initial understanding was to return to the two-hour show by early summer. Many WWE fans were expecting a return to this short form, as it is the traditional length of the blue brand.

The three-hour episode is seen as stretching the show from time to time, while providing more content. The current internal USA network list for the 3-hour Smackdown in early June raises questions as to whether WWE has decided to extend the longer runtime.

This could be an old schedule that has not yet been updated, but it could mean that the company is happy with the 3-hour version or there are other programming reasons to keep it. WWE fans are looking for official words to approach in June to see if SmackDown actually sticks to the expanded format or return to the initially planned two hours.
