AEW President Tony Kahn confirmed that he was interested in creating the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship in the end. He addressed the possibilities during a media call prior to Double or Note’s 2025 pay-per-view, acknowledging the growth of female tag teams within the company, including duos such as Megan Bayin & Penelopeford and reunited Julia Hart & Sky Blue.

When Fiighful’s Sean Ross Sapp was questioned about the possibility of these titles, Khan said it was his personal ambition. “That’s what I want to do and it’s a goal for me,” he said, “a great number of tandems and alliances” and “a great tag match in the women’s department.”

However, Khan also eased expectations by outlining the current key focus on revitalizing the men’s tag team division, facing injuries. “Now, I’m also focused on building a male tag division,” he explained. “I’m restructuring the men’s tag division, so that’s something I want to do in the future.”

Despite this immediate prioritization, he remains optimistic about introducing female tag titles, concludes, “That’s what I want to do and it’s realistic to see at some point.”
