I can’t see the fourth anarchy this weekend with AEW Double or No Arena Match Return. Death Riders’ John Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, Wheelerutah and Marina Shafir line up with the young Bucks alongside Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, Katsuyo Rishibata and King of Aueu. Strickland. This is what happened so far.
After taking the AEW World Championship from Bryan Danielson since WrestledReam and reskinning the Blackpool combat club to his death rider, Moxley and his factions dominated in an effective number of games with all their enemies. Until recently, the trio of Utah, Castagnoli and now on the sidelines PAC were the trio’s champions. However, the tide appears to be changing when PAC is injured, forcing Moxley to take his place to defend Trios’ title against OPPS. On the other side, Hook suffered an injury that required Hobbs to step up as a new member of OPPS. In the match, Joe’s team saw Death Rider first draw blood, stolen the title from Death Rider by suffocating the world champion himself in the middle of the ring.
Joe faced Moxley in a steel cage match during “Aew Dynamate: Beach Break” to take advantage of that victory and get his chance for his own time in the world title. However, he ultimately failed to follow up – Death Rider’s involvement was countered by the arrival of Joe’s teammate and Nightingale, but NJPW star Gabe Kidd appeared at the final moments, handing over Moxley’s briefcase (including the world’s title belt) to attack Joe, retaining the title. Kidd hasn’t been announced as part of the arena’s disorder, but if he’s not involved in any way, that’s a surprise.
Young Bucks’ Cost is Swerve Strickland the World Title
In just a year, Strickland and Joe went to allies against the current owner of the title from the World Championship opponents who abdicated Joe in the 2024 Dynasty. But Strickland isn’t just for vengeance against Moxley and Death Rider this weekend.
As he did the previous year, Strickland was about to become world champions again when he challenged Moxley in the dynasty in April. Joe and OPPS were on the deck to help his former rivals when Rider inevitably raised his head. However, he returned after the lights went out and revealed that the young Bucks had returned. They hit an EVP trigger to Strickland in the middle of the ring and handed Moxley the title retention.
Moxley spent weeks claiming he wanted nothing to do with the Bucks, claiming he wanted nothing to do with the Bucks as Death Rider looted the show shortly after Tag’s title loss at a private party last year. But with former Bucks teammates and elite former teammates, as well as those who beat Moxley with the title Omega in addition to fold, it seems that their need and general enemies have at least temporarily changed their minds. Until Moxley teamed up with the Bucks last week over the past week.
The Bucks and Omega sat on the other side, despite all being executive vice presidents of the company, with the former turning on the latter in 2023. Omega teamed up with Chris Jericho to defeat the Bucks in a title shot vs. disbandment match, prompting a fallout that led to Omega being removed from the elite last year in place of Kazuchika Okada.
