Producing a wrestling-based television show per week is more exhausting than it might think. There are no breaks. The show must air weekly, regardless of circumstances. Anyone who works in a creative field understands that it is difficult to come up with great ideas. Unless you’ve been before WWE With owner Vince McMahon and one audience, it’s difficult to create the storyline that most fans want.
There will always be people who criticize your work. In some cases, it’s fair because not all the ideas you come up with must be displayed on TV. In the context of the next storyline, it was especially true as there is no way to justify their existence.
Katie Vick
Triple H claimed that Kane killed his ex-girlfriend

Every few years, there are new competitors with the greatest storyline of all time. For older fans, it could be the cold of stones vs Vince McMahon Saga. For some, it may be a Jesus moment. And for fans these days, it may even be a pedigree story. Everyone has different opinions about this, but with all wrestling fans collectively agreeing, Katie Vick was the most disgusting angle they’ve seen on TV.
Triple H is thinking about Kane’s dressing and pretending to have sex with the mannequin, everyone is thinking, “Wow, that was fun.”
Roddy Piper painted half of his face and body
Roddy Piper vs Bad News Brown at WrestleMania 6 ended with a double countout

Why was this storyline aggressive? | Roddy Piper painted half of his body black |
Imagine it a very bad rivalry, it is known only for all the wrong reasons. Well, it’s a low bar as there was such a storyline in wrestling. But between Roddy Piper and the bad news, this is Brown has to take the cake. The build-up to it began with the Royal Rumble 1990 when Bad News Brown eliminated Piper. This would have been fine if Brown was still in the match, but Piper first reached him.
This led Brown to comment on Piper and the “kind of him” he wanted to be like him. Piper did just that. He painted half of his face black. And not just once, but many times, and he even wrestled in their WrestleMania 6 matches like that. This moment is debate and today is far more controversial. As much as fans loved Piper, this was the worst thing he ever did in the wrestling business.

Wrestling weddings are not authentic and they don’t really last long. Perhaps this is why WWE has always had a hard time writing wedding segments properly. A long time ago, while Undertaker was heading the Ministry of Darkness, he turned to the young Stephanie McMahon and decided to marry her.
He has demonic powers, so the wedding was also dark. It forces him to marry Stephanie by acquiring her and placing her on the cross, but Steve Austin arrives at the arena at the very last minute to save the day.
Kane makes Rita pregnant
Kane has been changed to a babyface

Another forced marriage that was not superior had something to do with Undertaker’s brother Kane. These mystical supernatural characters do not find love in the usual way. Instead, they force others to be with them. It’s already quite controversial.
Not only that, it was hinted that Kane had sexually assaulted Rita and impregnated her. Matt Hardy then lost a match against Kane at Summerslam and forced Rita’s hands. She had no choice but to marry a big red machine.
Randy Orton exploits Eddie Guerrero’s death
Even Randy Orton didn’t want to do this.
Who was involved? | Randy Orton and Ray Mysterio |
---|---|
When did the storyline take place? | 2006 |
Why was this storyline aggressive? | It happened a few months after Eddie Guerrero passed away |
Eddie Guerrero’s exploitation after Eddie Guerrero’s death was one of the most insulting things WWE has ever done in the former Latinx heat. Eddie died of heart failure in November 2005, and while Rey Mysterio paid tribute to him and gave his victory to Guerrero, Orton was stigmatized the “Eddie in Hell in Hell” line in February 2006 with SmackDown.
There are times when heels can be created. However, this felt like a low blow to someone universally respected by everyone, and they didn’t have to go that far.
Jim Ross’ colon surgery
Jim Ross wasn’t a fan of this angle
Who was involved? | Vince McMahon and Jim Ross |
---|---|
When did the storyline take place? | 2005 |
Why was this storyline aggressive? | Jim Ross almost died of perforated colon |
The perforated colon landed Jim Ross in the ICU and he had to undergo emergency surgery to fix it. Around this time, Vince McMahon and the company came up with a segment in which Vince became a surgeon named Dr. Heiney, performed surgery at Jim Ross (not the real thing), and literally pulled something strange out of his ass.
They claimed it was done in good faith, but neither Fan, Jim Ross’ wife, or JR himself, did not believe it. This was offensive on so many levels as Ross has always been a beloved personality of wrestling and he gave him everything at work. But in return they mocked him. That’s especially sad after learning that Jim Ross recently developed colon cancer.
Harley Race is racist
Ron Simmons was led to victory at the WCW World Heavyweight Championship
Who was involved? |

---|---|
When did the storyline take place? | 1992 |
Why was this storyline aggressive? | Racial elements |
Ron Simmons is recognized as the first African-American world champion in WCW history. He defeated Big Van Vader for the title in August 1992. Despite Simmons’ success in the wrestling business, things have always been less easy for him. Things were different back then. Racism was sometimes used to advance the storyline and was even more common behind the scenes.
Harley Race, formerly Vader’s manager at the time, threw a line at him “when I was a world champion, boys like me had boys to carry my bags.” It was part of a plan to take over “cowboy” Bill Watts Simmons, as he believed that if the wrestler was racist towards him, the fans would take him more root.
Heidenreich’s unpleasant segment with Michael Cole
Vince McMahon wrote this angle
Who was involved? | Heidenreich and Michael Cole |
---|---|
When did the storyline take place? | 2004 |
Why was this storyline aggressive? | Heidenreich sexually violated Michael Cole |
The infamous segment between Heidenreich and Michael Cole is still in the way to think about it today. The way it was produced, its meaning – everything was wrong in this angle.
For those who didn’t realize it, Heidenreich basically pushed Cole up against the wall and made this rhythmic move. This reportedly came straight from one of Vince McMahon’s dreams.
D-Generation X members dominate a parody nation
WWE is trying to erase this moment from history
Who was involved? | dGeneration X Member |
---|---|
When did the storyline take place? | 1998 |
Why was this storyline aggressive? | DX members made a black face to laugh at the country of control |
Roddy Piper vs Bad News Brown clearly told WWE nothing. They tried it again in the era of attitudes, but this time during the 1998 feud, D-Generation X members mimic the country of control. Stars like Triple H and X-PAC appeared on blackface.
It was inappropriate and wrong, but instead of owning their history, WWE tried to erase such moments from the memories of fans and pretended that they never happened.
JBL won the Great American Award for catching illegal immigrants
JBL won the championship match for this
Who was involved? | JBL |
---|---|
When did the storyline take place? | 2004 |
Why was this storyline aggressive? | Depicting stereotypes of Mexicans |
There are a lot of criticisms thrown at JBL, but one thing fans can’t deny is that he was one of the best heels of his time. The only problem is that JBL does not stop long to get that heat. For example, he once went to the US/Mexico border in Texas.
There, Bradshaw discovers that Mexican families were trying to come to the United States illegally, so he sends them back to their country. Kurt Angle, the then general manager of SmackDown, rewarded him with a great American award, similar to Eddie Guerrero’s shot at the WWE Championship.
