At last night’s AEW Double or Nothing event, “Hangman” Adam Page triumphed in the 2025 Men’s Owen Hart Cup Tournament and also clinched the AEW World Championship. During the post-show press conference, a visibly emotional Page expressed his gratitude to fans for their support over the past two years.
Despite having no recent interactions, Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) still harbors resentment over his loss to Page at AEW Revolution in March. This morning, MJF took to X (formerly Twitter) to mock Page’s heartfelt media appearance, even indirectly referencing another former rival, CM Punk. MJF tweeted, “What kind of losers will be emotional at a press conference?!? Your cowboy is a dork!”
Back in September 2022, about a year after his AEW tenure, Punk showed frustration during the All Out media scrum due to behind-the-scenes disagreements. Ironically, Punk himself was very emotional during the AEW Full Gear 2023 press conference, adding an extra layer of satire to MJF’s comments.
Though MJF has not recently competed in tag team matches, he holds the AEW World Tag Team Championship alongside Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara. Since his March defeat to Page, MJF has not wrestled but recently expressed his desire to reclaim the AEW World Championship, clearly viewing the vulnerable champion as his main target.
Fan Take: This back-and-forth highlights the intense rivalries and personal drama that keep AEW storylines compelling. MJF’s continuous taunts add fuel to the fire, promising an exciting build-up for future matches that AEW fans will be eager to follow.
