WWE’s NXT brand hosted a Battleground Premium Live event at Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. The Memorial Day weekend event included several matches, including one for the NXT Women’s Championship.
Stephanie Verker defended the NXT Women’s Championship at Battlegrounds. She previously held the title on Stand & Deliver and delivered in a fatal 4-way match involving Jordynne Grace and Giulia. From there things continued to get hotter for the Varker from there.
In the end, Jordin Grace won the #1 contender match against Julia to face Bucketer in the Battlegrounds. Julia was then called to the Smackdown brand and she is currently being prepared for women’s money in 2025 in a bankrader match.
The match took place in the middle of a premium live event. Fans watched these two go from toe toe, so the contest received a huge battle feel thanks to the introduction of the ring. They traded holds and did their best to gain foothold in the match to maintain control, but neither side gave the ground easily.
There were several waterfalls nearby, and fans yelled at each pinfall attempt. Jordynne Grace nailed the suppression from the top and then Jackhammer followed, but not enough to win the match. The contest continued when fans chanted “This is great.”
Stephanie Verker almost got the pinfall, but Jordyn Grace went into Beast Mode to pick her up. The Verker fought to get out of it, and she fired a kick that sent grace into the apron. In the end, the two were injured in the match on the mat. They went outside and the Bakel sent grace through the barricades as the fans chanted “Holy sh*t.”
They returned to the ring, and Jordin Grace was kicked out after Stephanie Verker’s finisher, causing the fans to explode. Grace fought from the Verker hold and began trading forearm shots. In the end, Vaquer nailed the finisher one more time, picking up a clean victory and retaining the NXT women’s title.
We are focusing on the NXT Women’s Division. After all, you never know what will happen, especially if the roster continues to look at some of their biggest names called on the WWE main roster.
