AEW has been competing with WWE for several years, and recently WWE has been scheduling events on the same day as the AEW show, and now Tony Khan is working on WWE’s tactics.
While speaking during the double or notebook media scrum after AEW, Tony Khan was asked about other companies such as WWE about scheduling events regularly at the same time or near dates of AEW shows.
Khan said this pattern was very consistent and compared to the level of head-to-head scheduling seen in the era of gym crockett promotions. Khan pointed out that while others may be taking that approach, this time he believes things are very different.
“It’s pretty consistent. I think it’s the most direct scheduling of events since the Jim Crockett promotion. So there’s a lot of schedules and they went that way.
This is the same day as Texas in AEW’s All: Texas At the Globe Life Field after WWE scheduled its Saturday night main event on July 12th. They ran the NXT Battleground Premium Live event this week, along with AEW’s double or nothing pay-per-view.
While it is clear that WWE sees AEW as a competition and will continue to do the events against them, Tony Kahn is confident about AEW’s chances for WWE’s tactics. So fans can expect more AEWs, and WWE is showing that they’ll head from true to head in the future, and Tony Kahn won’t flinch.
