Wrestling icon Bill Goldberg is gearing up for what he has declared will be his final match, a decision deeply personal as he plans to share this moment with his son.
The 58-year-old former WCW champion recently appeared on the Claw Pod with Ross and Marshall von Erich, where he revealed that his 19-year-old son, Gage, will accompany him to the ring for his farewell bout.
Goldberg shared, “All I can say about my match is that I will be proudly led by my son,” marking the first clear details about his retirement showdown.
Unlike his past comeback matches, which were organized on short notice, Goldberg is now giving himself ample time to prepare for this significant event.
“This is because at 58, I stepped into the ring in a way different from others—because I wanted to end my career on my own terms, not just restart it,” he said in an interview.
He candidly discussed the mental struggles of returning to wrestling near the age of 60, admitting, “Psychologically, I wasn’t seeing the same guy I wanted to be in the ring because I didn’t recognize the person staring back at me.”
Goldberg also highlighted the importance of his bond with his son, who he wakes up every morning and puts to bed every night when home from college.
This news coincides with Gage preparing for his second college football season under coach Deion Sanders at the University of Colorado.
Fan Take: Goldberg’s farewell match with his son brings a heartfelt twist to his legendary career, offering WWE fans a rare glimpse into the personal side of a wrestling superstar. This moment not only honors Goldberg’s legacy but also symbolizes a new generation potentially stepping into the spotlight, promising exciting evolution for the sport.
