When discussing Good Karma Wrestling, Barnett emphasized that he stands by the event lineup and his vision, despite the backlash regarding WWE’s involvement.
“This is a show for wrestlers, simply put. It’s remarkable to have a unique event where a small number of fans have shown resistance, yet WWE talents are featured.”
Burnett clarified that attracting major stars from large organizations isn’t straightforward and is centered around trust rather than mere politics. He disclosed that he has been in talks with Triple H and William Regal for years, even while Vince McMahon was still in charge.
“The wrestlers are a significant asset for any company, which comes with substantial financial commitment… trust is paramount.”
While some fans are advocating for a strictly indie event, Barnett made it clear that his objective isn’t merely about labels.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re indie or affiliated with a particular group. My goal is to collaborate and create an environment where wrestlers can excel and shine.”
Looking ahead, Burnett has indicated that many one-night Bloodsport tournaments have been on his agenda for some time. The original plan was to hold these events over 36 weeks leading up to WrestleMania, but that was scrapped due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He is now determined to revive that initiative.
“We intended to host Bloodsport during WrestleMania Week, but Covid disrupted everything… Since then, it’s remained one of our key focuses.”
The next Bloodsport event is scheduled for September in London at the Electric Ballroom, and Burnett shows no signs of slowing down. He aims to introduce his vision to a wider audience, catering to those who believe in what he can deliver, regardless of any affiliation.
