WWE superstar Omos is widely recognized for his immense size in the wrestling world, but off-camera, he has been coping with a serious medical condition that nearly cut his career short before it even began. In a candid interview with Chris Van Vliet, Omos shared that his impressive height is not purely genetic. Standing 7’3″ tall now, he revealed that he was already six feet tall at age 11 and had shot up to 6’7″ by age 13, initially believing it was just a normal growth spurt.
A doctor, noticing his unusual growth during a basketball game, urgently alerted the university president, warning of a possible medical issue. The doctor said, “Hey, my name is Dr. Vesley. I saw one of your players, Jordan Omogbehin. With the size of his hands and jaw, he might have a tumor. You need to check him immediately.”
Initially, Omos thought the warning was a joke, but it turned out to be gravely serious. After an MRI, doctors delivered shocking news. “They pulled out an MRI and said, ‘You have a pituitary tumor. If you don’t remove it, you risk blindness or a heart attack.’ My body was producing excessive growth hormone that was affecting my brain,” Omos explained.
He described his condition as a rare blend similar to those affecting giants like Andre the Giant and Big Show but with unique characteristics. “It resembles what Andre the Giant had, known as acromegaly, and it’s also seen in the Big Show. But my case is unique and at the forefront of medical study,” he said.
The rarity of his condition led his doctors to document it in a medical journal. Even now, Omos must take medication to control his growth. “I’m still growing sideways, so I take medicine to stop my body from using growth hormone. I won’t grow any taller, but I must manage the hormone to avoid getting too big,” he shared.
Despite these challenges, Omos remains resilient and successful. “I feel pain sometimes, but I’m doing well. If the doctor hadn’t acted when he did, I would have died,” he admitted. He credits Dr. Vesley with saving his life, saying, “I cried to Dr. Vesley. He saved my life.”
Omos’s journey is a powerful story of overcoming life-threatening obstacles to become one of WWE’s unforgettable talents. With his health managed and career on the rise, he embodies the idea that real-life battles forge the strongest champions.
