The AEW wrestler Abaddon has announced that they will be leaving the company. Abaddon, who signed a full-time contract with AEW in 2020, revealed on X that their contract, which expires in June, will not be renewed by the promotion.
Abaddon shared, “My time at AEW is coming to an end. My contract expired in June and won’t be renewed. The emotions I’m trying to manage now are very difficult, but I will always cherish my time there.”
In their statement, Abaddon emphasized their intention to continue pursuing their wrestling career despite this setback. The American wrestler began their career in January 2019, training at Rocky Mountain Pro Academy, and made their AEW debut in March 2020.
Due to the influx of talent from WWE, many early AEW signees like Abaddon have seen their contracts not renewed after initial stints. Abaddon’s last match for AEW took place at the 2023 Worlds End PPV, making their departure somewhat expected.
Fan Take: Abaddon’s exit highlights the ongoing challenges AEW faces in managing its roster amid an influx of new talent from WWE. For fans, this signals a period of transition that could shape the company’s future direction and opportunities for rising stars in the wrestling world.
