Jacob Fatu might eventually hold the WWE Championship, but when that moment arrives, he’ll definitely be more careful with the title than he was during his childhood. In a recent chat with the Toronto Sun, the current WWE US Champion shared some funny memories from his younger days, including one involving the late WWE Hall of Famer Yokozuna and a temporarily misplaced championship belt.
“I lost his belt backstage. Yeah, I lost it, and Earl Hebner ended up finding it. It happened around catering. I was just a kid running around,” Fatu recalled.
Reflecting on Yokozuna, Fatu spoke fondly of his uncle and mentioned that just the day before the interview, he had been thinking about him. He also recognized the significance of his uncle’s hometown, which became renowned after winning the Royal Rumble in 1993, further strengthening the family’s wrestling legacy.
“My dad was playfully flicking my ears, asking, ‘Man, where’s the belt?’ I was just a kid,” Fatu said. “He asked, ‘Where did you find it?’ and I’ll never forget what he said.”
Now, Jacob Fatu is building his own legacy, having won the WWE US Championship at WrestleMania 41, and he is widely regarded as one of the most promising stars on the WWE roster. Hopefully, the championship title stays safe with him this time, especially when he’s around catering!
