Becky Lynch has openly shared the surprising way she landed her role in Happy Gilmore 2, marking a significant step in her entertainment career. Rick Ucchino from Sports Illustrated recounts how one major acting opportunity can lead to another.
"Just one week after the audition, while I was dressed in a Star Trek outfit, I received a call offering me the part," Lynch revealed.
Having grown up watching the original Happy Gilmore on VHS in Ireland, Lynch is now, nearly 30 years later, starring in the Netflix sequel alongside comedy icon Adam Sandler.
"I loved Adam Sandler as a kid, and I still do. Working with him only deepened my admiration—he’s always passionate, upbeat, focused, and creates such a fun, welcoming atmosphere on set," she said.
The sequel also features AEW’s MJF, meaning Lynch isn’t the only pro wrestler making an impact on-screen. With stars from both WWE and AEW, Happy Gilmore 2 is set to attract fans of the original film as well as wrestling enthusiasts.
Becky Lynch’s acting career is rapidly expanding, and this behind-the-scenes glimpse shows just how quickly opportunities can arise in Hollywood.
