WWE NXT features a wide range of vibrant characters, but one particular gimmick has faced accusations of being “stolen.” On X (formerly Twitter), ex-WWE star Vito claimed that his Mafioso persona was dismantled by Triple H, who then allegedly allowed others, like Tony D’Angelo and Channing “Stack” Lorenzo, to benefit from it.
Vito expressed his frustration in a statement, saying he has lived that lifestyle and portrayed the gimmick since 1999. Despite being disrespected publicly by a younger talent who seemingly copied everything except his shoes, Vito insists that the ideas behind the “family” storyline were originally his. He mentioned being contacted by WWE talent relations for involvement in Florida but feels overlooked while his trademark concepts are taken wholesale without credit. Vito confidently claims to have proof to back his accusations and questions if WWE will continue to ignore his 35 years of experience.
He also addressed Stack Lorenzo, acknowledging that imitation is flattering but made clear that those who adopt his persona remain in his shadow until officially endorsed by him.
Although some fans might only remember Vito from his WWE days during the Ruthless Aggression era, he actually had a lengthy career before that. WWE has yet to publicly respond to the former FBI agent’s claims.
