Despite wrapping up his latest Fozzy tour, fans are eager for Chris Jericho to return to AEW television soon. However, according to Dave Meltzer on the June 2, 2025 episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, there are currently no plans for Jericho to make a comeback on AEW programming.
Jericho recently appeared at Crusher Fest in Milwaukee, an annual tribute to AWA legend The Crusher, who was Jericho’s childhood hero. Although this appearance was noted, Meltzer emphasized that Jericho’s status with AEW remains unchanged, with no new updates about his involvement.
Meltzer also mentioned that former AEW world champions like Jericho can technically show up at any time, but not on AEW’s Wednesday shows, particularly on either side of the event schedule. The primary reason for Jericho’s ongoing absence is his personal wish to take a break, as the promotion has indicated he felt the need for some time off.
Since AEW’s debut in 2019, Jericho has been a weekly presence on television, highlighted as a top star. He has been part of multiple factions and held several championships, including the AEW World Heavyweight Title and the ROH World Championship.
Fan Take: Jericho stepping away for a break signals a significant shift in AEW’s landscape, as fans have grown accustomed to seeing him at the forefront. His absence opens the door for new stars to rise, but his eventual return could bring a major boost in excitement and viewership for the promotion.
