Ex-AEW Champion Mariah Mei Steps into the WWE Spotlight for Her Debut

2 Min Read

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May made her WWE debut on the June 3rd episode of NXT. Her exit from AEW was confirmed recently after her removal from their official roster page. Mariah’s last AEW appearance was in early March during a “Hollywood Ending” match against Toni Storm at Revolution, after which it was revealed that she was in the final year of her AEW contract, with interest from both sides in a WWE move.

During the NXT episode, as the new women’s champion Jacy Jayne was celebrating in the ring with Fatal Effects, a large brawl was about to erupt before several top NXT women interrupted. The lights went out, and the spotlight revealed Mariah May standing on the Performance Center platform. WWE has not yet confirmed if she will keep the name Mariah May or be renamed, as her real name is Mariah May Mead, which WWE might prefer to change for branding purposes.

Fan Take: Mariah May’s transition from AEW to WWE represents a significant shift in the women’s wrestling landscape, highlighting WWE’s growing interest in fresh talent from rival promotions. For AEW fans, it underscores the competitive nature of the industry and could spark exciting new storylines and rivalries that push the sport forward.
