The AEW women’s division received a significant boost following the recent Pro Wrestling Eve event, Eve 135, held on June 6th in London, England. Indie wrestling star Alex Windsor announced she has officially signed with AEW. After unsuccessfully challenging Syuri for the IWGP Women’s Championship, Windsor took the microphone to express gratitude for the support of British and women’s wrestling and revealed her departure from the independent circuit to join AEW. Currently based in the UK, it’s still uncertain when Windsor will make regular appearances for AEW.
At 31 years old, Windsor first caught AEW fans’ attention with her 2024 debut in the company, where she competed against notable wrestlers like Anna Jay, Kris Statlander, Willow Nightingale, and Toni Storm in various AEW Rampage episodes. Alongside AEW, she’s also appeared in ROH programming and is scheduled to challenge Athena for the ROH Women’s World Championship at Global Wars Australia in February. Windsor is recognized as one of the UK’s top wrestling talents, with victories including the Pro Wrestling Eve and World of Sport titles. She also achieved success internationally, winning the International Princess Championship in Japan against Maki Itoh at TJPW in 2022.
Fan Take: Alex Windsor’s addition to AEW brings fresh talent and international experience into the women’s division, which fans have eagerly anticipated. Her signing not only expands AEW’s global reach but also sets the stage for new, exciting rivalries that could elevate women’s wrestling within the promotion.
