Ric Flair has announced that he has been diagnosed with cancer again. The WWE Hall of Fame legend revealed that this is his second battle with the disease in three years and that he will start treatment next week.
He stated, “It’s been three years since I’ve dealt with skin cancer. I’ll be treated next week.”
This announcement comes shortly after the 76-year-old had previously declined to disclose his cancer status following a tweet by his son-in-law, Conrad Thompson. At that time, Flair told fans he needed to stay strong for at least another 25 years.
Recently, Flair made headlines for his critical remarks towards fellow wrestling veteran Jim Ross, an AEW announcer who is also recovering from cancer. Flair referred to Ross as a “featured seeker” in a tweet that has since been deleted.
Many retired pro wrestlers have faced serious health challenges in recent years. Flair himself experienced a critical health crisis in 2017 due to multiple organ failures that required a medically-induced coma and an extended hospital stay.
Sescoops wishes Ric Flair a speedy and full recovery.
Fan Take: Ric Flair’s diagnosis is a sobering reminder of the physical and emotional toll wrestling legends endure, making it all the more important for fans and the industry to support their heroes beyond the ring. His courage in facing this battle may inspire others and highlight the need for better health awareness in the sport.
