The idea of Shane McMahon starting a new wrestling company with her father Vince McMahon has taken on a life of its own in recent months, but Shane has set the record straight.
While I’m talking TMZ SportsShane was asked directly about the rumor and gave a clear answer. That’s not happening.
The TMZ interviewer asked if he and Vince were planning to start their promotion, amid speculation that they were quietly exploring options other than WWE. Shane initially played the business unpredictability and then firmly denied it.
“You don’t know what’s going to happen there. Of course, what happens in WWE.
This comment was Shane’s most direct denial, but after months of swirling reports, Vince McMahon was collaborated from WWE’s power following legal issues and a TKO merger – plans a comeback through a brand new wrestling venture. Jonathan’s coachman even insisted that Vince wanted to buy back WWE, and Conrad Thompson added fuel by saying McMahon was reaching out to old executives about the new project.
Shane was a hot topic in itself. In 2022, he was quietly removed from WWE by his own father after clashing with the producer in a royal rumble match where he helped with the book. Despite the behind-the-scenes heat, Vince Russo came to his defense and suggested that Shane had a way to launch his own company.
“He has the experience, funds, know-how and intelligence to do that.” Russo said on Twitter.
For now, Shane McMahon has closed the doors of those wrestling promotional rumors, but in pro wrestling the doors are rarely closed for a long time. Between his history, resources and unfinished business in the industry, it’s hard to believe that Shane’s story is over. Whether he returns to WWE, has another meeting with AEW, or step into something brand new, you can be sure the next chapter is worth watching.
