WWE has announced the comeback of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments, where the winners will earn future championship opportunities.
The announcement came from RAW General Manager Adam Pearce and Smackdown General Manager Nick Aldis during this week’s episode of the Smackdown show.
Officials confirmed that the tournaments will feature cross-brand competition, with winners from each brand earning title shots at their respective champions during the upcoming SummerSlam pay-per-view.
Each WWE brand will host two four-way matches to determine who advances to the tournament semifinals. The final match will take place at the Champions pay-per-view event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on June 28th.
This format mirrors last year’s event, where the finals were also held at the Saudi Arabian PPV.
Last year, Nia Jax claimed victory in the Queen of the Ring tournament, defeating Lila Valkyria in the final. She later went on to beat Bailey at SummerSlam to capture the Women’s World Championship.
Similarly, Gunther won the King of the Ring by defeating Randy Orton, securing a title shot against Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship. Gunther is set to face Priest again at the upcoming PPV.
Fan Take: The return of the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments injects fresh excitement and competitive stakes into WWE’s event lineup. This cross-brand format not only heightens rivalries but also sets the stage for dramatic title chases, making it a must-watch for fans eager to see new and returning stars rise.
