NXT Europe Update Sparks Debate Among Wrestlers and Promoters on Its Actual Launch

3 Min Read

The ongoing speculation about WWE launching NXT Europe has heated up again, but many remain doubtful that the project will materialize anytime soon. Corey Brennan from Fightful Select recently interviewed several European wrestlers and promoters, who largely expressed skepticism despite recent WWE UK tryouts and visits from Triple H.

According to Brennan, those who attended the UK tryouts received little information beyond the usual company line that the brand is “still here.” Some wrestlers were signed, others were offered different opportunities, but none were directly told the tryouts were connected to NXT Europe. A former NXT UK star mentioned they remain cautious, saying, “They’ll believe it when they see it,” referring to the rumored launch of NXT Europe.

European promoters have mixed opinions about what’s really happening. Some think WWE’s moves may be a reaction to AEW’s growing presence in Europe, especially after events like the Wembley Stadium show and upcoming Forbidden Door pay-per-views. While WWE is aggressively signing top talent, some promoters aren’t overly concerned. One promoter candidly said, “It’s not the end of the world,” noting that the wrestling scene managed to bounce back and create new stars even after the end of NXT UK and the pandemic.

Many wrestlers are hopeful but cautious, particularly wanting improved contracts compared to the old NXT UK deals, where talent often had to take second jobs. In France, there’s concern about losing top local stars amidst the scene’s recent growth. Despite the fresh tryouts and Triple H’s involvement, several UK and French wrestlers don’t expect NXT Europe to launch anytime soon.

After about three years of talk, commitment, and shutdowns, most in the European wrestling community are adopting a “wait and see” approach. For now, NXT Europe feels like a wrestling equivalent of “I’ll believe it when I see it.” WWE continues to drop hints, but many wrestlers and promoters remain cautious, not convinced by vague promises and sporadic tryouts.

Fan Take: This update matters because it highlights the uncertainty within the European wrestling scene about WWE’s expansion plans. For fans, NXT Europe could be a game-changer, offering new opportunities and fresh talent, but until WWE fully commits, it remains a hopeful concept rather than a concrete future.
