Professional wrestling heavily relies on factions, allowing multiple wrestlers to join forces and create compelling storylines. With numerous promotions worldwide, it’s rare to find factions that don’t carve out their own unique space.
In WWE, several iconic factions like Evolution, Shield, D-Generation X, and The Nation of Domination have left a lasting impact. Though the company faced criticism for neglecting factions in recent years, the creative emphasis on groups has grown with Triple H’s involvement, leading to varying degrees of success.
Wyatt Six: Debuting in June 2024, this faction includes Bodallas (Uncle Howdy), Eric Rowan, Joe Gacy, Dexter Lemis, and Nikki Cross. They started strong by feuding with Chad Gable’s American-made group and won an eight-man street fight in September. However, they suffered a significant loss in December 2024 and were off TV for a while due to an injury but made a striking return in May 2025.
Legado del Fantasma (Ghost Legacy): Active since 2020, this NXT-originated faction led by Santos Escobar has carved a distinct identity, moving successfully to WWE’s main roster. Despite losing members and some momentum after releases in 2025, the trio consisting of Escobar, Angel, and Hembel recently won at the WWE and AAA Worlds Collide event.
Alpha Academy: Initially a babyface tag team with Otis and Chad Gable, Alpha Academy turned heel in 2022 by winning the Raw Tag Team Championship. Maxine Dupri and Akira Tozawa later joined the team. After Gable left to form the American-made faction, the remaining members continue as a trio but lack direction without a clear leader.
LWO: Reviving from its WCW days, the LWO returned to WWE in 2023 with Rey Mysterio leading members from Legado del Fantasma. Despite Carlito’s heel turn and departure, the group remains popular, holding the WWE US and Speed Championships but has struggled to maintain momentum.
Green Regime: Formed in 2024 by Chelsea Green and Piper Niven, with Albafire joining later, this faction garnered notable praise. Chelsea Green’s reign as WWE Women’s US Champion and the group’s dynamic presence earn them recognition as an underrated faction.
New Bloodline: This faction emerged in 2024 after Solo Sikoa took the helm post-Roman Reigns. Featuring members like Tonga Loa and Jacob Fatu, the group has struggled at times but gained traction with Fatu’s WWE US Championship win, though internal tensions remain evident.
American Made: Formed by Chad Gable after splitting from Alpha Academy, this group includes the Creed Brothers and Ivy Nile. The faction shows promise on Raw with Gable as a motivating leader and aims to push for the World Tag Team Championship.
Judgment Day: A dominant faction since 2022, Judgment Day has seen shifts including betrayals and departures but remains influential with members holding various championships. The addition of Raquel Rodriguez has strengthened the group despite challenges.
Paul Heyman’s Ensemble: Established in 2025 following Heyman’s betrayal of Roman Reigns and CM Punk, this faction features Seth Rollins, Bronson Reed, and Breakker. Quickly rising to prominence, they dominate WWE’s scene with Rollins securing a second Money in the Bank briefcase.
Fan Take: Factions are crucial for adding depth and excitement to WWE storylines, and this resurgence underlines the company’s renewed focus on these groups. Keeping fans invested in faction dynamics not only elevates individual wrestlers but also enriches the overall narrative and future of professional wrestling.
