AEW Dynamite Results (5/21/2025): Live Match Updates and Highlights
The show welcomes us with Excalibur, Taz and Ian Riccaboni, and Tony Ciavone will showcase the finalists for the men’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament “The Hangman” Adam Page and Will Osprey. After teaming together last week, both men move towards the ring as they look back at their conflict.
Schiavone says both men know what is at stake this Sunday. Not only the Owen Hart Cup, but also shots at the AEW World Championships in Texas. Schiavone then first gives Ospreay the floor. Ospreay then says that the page has a question and asks the page if he is still drinking. Page appears to be upset about this, but Osprey claims he’s just asking Hangman to offer some beer. Osprey says the beer is on the line before handing the bottle to the page, but Hangman says he’s not interested in drinks at this time.
Ospreay then says he understands and lets the beer down before telling Hangman that he petitioned Tony Kahn for their match to be Sunday’s main event. Osprey says that those people don’t understand what is at risk. Ospreay says that not only is the Owen Hart Cup on the line, but the winner is not only responsible for moving on to everyone for the title shot, but that person is responsible for retrieving that cute gold belt.
Ospreay then continues to talk about the work he put in and how he wants to go to London’s forbidden door with a title around his waist. Ospreay says he understands that the page wants this, but he wants a little more. The page admits there is a difference between them. Page says Osprey wants it, and he understands the emotions as if he was there before. Page says Ospreay knows how important the AEW World Championship is to this business. Page tells Ospreay that this could be a professional result, but for him this is personal. Hangman says he doesn’t want this opportunity. Afterwards, Hangman wastes two years of life, talking about feeling nothing but hatred and resentment.
Hangman says the worst comes at Christmas time. He looks at his son, looks out the window, says he’s looking for something that will never come back. Page says he needs this because he needs his wife to look at his eyes and see the man she has fallen in love with. Page says he needs it for his family and he needs it for the fans who have supported him throughout. Page says he needs it for himself. At the end of the tunnel of the last two years, he needs to know that Ospreay was wrong about it being too little and too late for him.
Ospreay then asks the page what he is going to do about it. Osprey then asks Page if he will wrap a chair around his head or try to retire like Christopher Daniels. Page then tells Ospreay that it took a long time to get back to the end, so he hasn’t gone that route again. Page says he’s stuck to all the losses he has, leaving it all in the ring and gaining the respect and trust of his fans. Page asks Ospreay if he thinks it’s enough when playing against John Moxley, and Ospreay admits he doesn’t know. Ospreay then faces Moxley twice and says he couldn’t defeat him, but Page knows how to defeat him, so if Ospreay can defeat him, he needs a page to double that guy. Ospreay then tackles the way the past two years have changed Hangman, losing the trust and respect of his fans and those behind him. Ospreay then says he needs a hangman to know he’s doing his best this Sunday, and before writing Ospreay, he needs to remember that he beat some of the best in this business, including MJF and Bryan Danielson and others. After that, Osprey says anything can happen, and if it is the hangman that he can accept it, he can accept it. Osprey says that if Hangman needs a friend he can see his back and if he wins, he hopes that Page knows that he has his back.
Osprey says that what he’s saying is to meet him in the desert this Sunday. Ospreay then brings the beer back to the page. The page will be accepted in Swig this time before staring at Ospreay. Commentary then confirms that this match is officially the main event of a double or notebook.
After that, head outside the arena. There, John Moxley and Marina Shafir enter the building, and Moxley says that corruption goes to those who accept disorder.
After that, head to ringside. There, Moxley heads into the ring through the crowd for the first match of the night. The younger Bucks then head to the ring, followed by Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs and Swell Bustrickland.
Trio Match: Death Rider AEW World Champions Jon Moxley and The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson) vs. The Opps (AEW World Trios Champions Samoa Joe and Powerhouse Hobbs) and Swerve Strickland
The match begins with Joe and Moxley trading strikes, then rock each other towards their respective corners. Hobbs and Matthew then tag. Both men then trade crimes until Nicholas tages the double team, but Hobbs looks back at the tag that sends Nicholas to the ropes. Strickland then bumps into a backbreaker, and all six of them enter the ring and things break completely. Things eventually settle down as Moxley sends Hobbs out to pass through the ropes and Joe returns to the ring for his own dive, being intercepted with a double superkick by the young Bucks.
Nicholas is attacked by a flatliner by Swellve and he sends him out of the ring for a dive as Joe returns and comes back to hit the taupe on the young Bucks. Moxley punches Hobbs and then controls him as he takes him to the center of the ring for some stomps while Hobbs falls. Nicholas then tages, but overwhelms Hobbs and Strickland tags for the double team. Swerve then blocks Hurricane Lana’s attempt to send Nicholas hard with his power bomb. Nicholas then returns to his feet and invites Strickland for a sneak attack from Moxley and Matthews on the outside.
Nicholas then continues his attack until Strickland gets to his knees on Nicholas, but Swerve’s partner is knocked out of the apron to prevent potential tags. This gives the younger Bucks and Moxley an opening to continue the beatdown, which leads to the dangerous business of making Nicholas a two-count. Matthew is then punished with more punishment and with support from Nicholas, leading to another fall near Strickland. Moxley tages him and asks for a Strickland pin before Joe breaks it. Joe is then cleared from the ring and Moxley sets up something brutal in the swivel and tries to free him. Moxley then lets go, but just set up a full Nelson before Swerve Breaks is free. Swerve tries to escape from Moxley as Moxley reaches for the tag and slams the headbutt that takes him and Moxley hard.
Matthew then tagged the chaos on until Hobbs defeats Matthew and allows Strickland to become a nearby fall. Afterwards, when Moxley has the advantage, the action spills outwards, but Swellve is able to fight back before returning to the ring. Moxley then appears to hit Hobbs with a paradigm shift, but Matthew is also dropped with the spinebuster before being attacked by the spinebuster. Swellve is still up in the turnbuckle as things are broken again in the ring, and the young Bucks hit a double superkick with a jaw. They then go to the EVP trigger at Strickland, but Joe wins Nicholas with the Coquina clutch and Swellve rolls up by winning Matthew.
Trios Match winners, OPPS (AEW World Trios Champions Samoa Joe and Powerhouse Hobbs), Swerve Strickland!
After the match, the remaining Death Riders head into the ring for a beatdown before Shibata even reaches the numbers. Marina Shafir sways to Willow Nightingale as Kenny Omega rushes into the ring to chase after Utah. Omega then hits a running V-trigger against the rope with Matthew as Swerve pulls out the table. Claudio Castagnoli then helps take the young Bucks and Death Rider out of the ring, and they run away through the crowd as Samoa Joe calls them before there’s a double or nothing.
After that, we head backwards. There, the wounded syndicate and their legal counsel are greeted by the MJF along with his legal counsel. The MVP says he will see him in the ring later. They then leave when MJF and Mark Sterling wave at Hart Syndicate’s legal counsel.
We then head to ringside and head towards the ring as the Heart Syndicate begins to give him his thumb that Bobby Lashley has given him approval to join the group. The MVP says he’s making an official announcement on this and deals with the boo saying that he’s booing because MJF is better than them and they know it. When MJF’s music hits, the MVP welcomes the newest members of The Hurt Syndicate, with the microphone in hand and heads towards the ring. MJF laughs at the crowd before dealing with the wounded syndicate. MJF says when he was a young young man, his mom sat him down and said that the most important day of his life was when he got married to the love of his life, but she never took part in the hurt syndicate. The crowd booes MJF, but is handled by the MVP and MJF.
As soon as the MJF was completed, Mark Sterling says this was done to satisfy both parties. The MJF will then sign the contract and join Hurt Syndicate before Sterling hands over the contract to The Hurt Syndicate. Afterwards, Benjamin talks to the legal counsel before signing, but the MVP continues to hunt down the crowd. He then waits for Bobby Lashley’s signature to look out before discussing with Benjamin and his lawyer. The MVP then joins after trying to close the crowd further, and Lashley eventually signs the contract. MJF then wears a hat to celebrate before being cut off by the Texas sons.
After that, the MJF starts to run them, but is blocked by Dustin Rhodes. Rhodes says he hates MJF’s courage. Rhodes then returns to MVP and says he has great respect for him, but paying attention to MJF is his biggest concern. Afterwards, Rhodes says that he and Sammy Guevara want to get a little more money, and there’s nothing the hurt syndicate can do for him or Gabara. Rhodes then tells the wounded syndicate not to underestimate himself or Guevara, and they will fight the heart, passion and fire. Rhodes then says that the injured syndicate sees double or nothing.
After that, we head backwards. There, Kazuchika Okada calls Bailey, telling Mike Bailey that the speedball wouldn’t call him. Okada then says he will try speedball to a double or notebook match at the Continental Championship and leave to hold the title. Okada tells him to trust him.
Anthony Bowens then heads into the ring for the next game of the night, with him accompanied by Billy Gunn. Ricochette then heads to the ring.
Single Match: Ricochet vs. “The Pride of Pro Wrestling” “The 5 Tool Player” Anthony Bowens
The match begins with Ricochet trying to ock Billy Gunn, but is cut off by Bowens. Ricochet then begins to fight back, but Bowens takes him down before sending Ricochet out. Ricochette then returns to his legs and takes his mouth with the cancer. He sends Bowen to the barricade him, nailing him to his head. Gunn then sends Ricochet back into the ring, leading to a judgement and a few words, and Ricochet backs up and sends Bowens to the floor by crashing into the apron.
Ricochet then continues his beatdown with Bowens in the ring, with Anthony nailing him with a kick and a leg lariat. Bowens then places a ricochette on his shoulder and sends him hard for a two count. Ricochet is back on his feet and both men trade strikes until Bowens attacks Ricochet with a super kick for the nearby fall. The Bowens then back up Ricochet, which allows Ricochet to hit a knee strike and kick at Bowens. Ricochet then goes to Spirit Gun, but Bowens arrives instead and attacks him. Bowens then hits Molly Hop with Ricochet and sends Ricochet out of the ring in the process. Gunn then begins to head around the ring and sends Ricochet back, the referee arguing with him, and Ricochet hits a pair of scissors on Bowens’ head. Ricochet then attacks the spirit gun at Bowens for victory.
Ricochet, the winner of the singles match!
After the match, Ricochet retreats the ramp. Mark Brisco then attacks him from behind with a stretcher, then takes him over it, and climbs the rope. The Ricochet then rolls off the stretcher and Mark can fly and head backwards.
Comments then run the card with double or nothing. After that, Mercedes Monet’s open challenge for the TBS Championship will see the next Monet meet Jamie Hater before the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Finals as Raynais takes on her challenge in a collision tomorrow night.
After that, we head backwards. There, Stokeley Hathaway will be working on upcoming matches with FTR and Double or Nothing. FTR says they want to see Nigel McGuinness and Daniel Garcia on their eyes before signing the contract. FTR says they see Nigel and Garcia collide. FTR kicks out people at the top.
After that, we return to ringside. Renee Puckett says it’s time to hear from women ahead of the final decision of the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament with Double or Nothing this Sunday. Paquette then introduces Jamie Hayter and Mercedes Moné, with both women moving towards the ring before Paquette calls Hayter the underdog. Hater says she promises to fight back over and over again because it’s her. Hater says she doesn’t walk around pretending to be the best since sliced bread, but she’s a fighter. Hater says this means more to her than it means to Mercedes Monet. Hater says this is more than a title shot for her, which is unforgettable.
Pucket then deals with the strength being drawn from Mercedes Monet by his opponent and asks if Monet is worried that Hater is the first woman to defeat her in AEW. Monet then asks if Puckett knows who she is talking to. She is a revolution. Monet says she doesn’t look past Heiter, she looks straight at her like a glass doll.
Monet then promises to Hater why she is CEO. He says this is more than just winning. Monet says she wants her to be the fighter she calls. Hater then asks if something looks different about Moné tonight, before mentioning that Moné has lost the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship. Hater then says that it was her destiny and that her destiny is to lose everything. This causes Monet to set off when he attacks Heighter.
Toni Storm’s music then hits, and the real-life women’s world champion heads to the commentary desk for the main event of the next night.
Shirakawa then heads into the ring for the night’s main event, followed by Julia Hart.
AEW Women’s World Champion “Timeless” Toni Storm on Commentary: Mina Shirakawa vs. Julia Hart’s Hound of Hell
The match begins with both women chasing each other and not wasting time before Mina sends her heart to the ropes. Hart then fights back and hits a hip toss with Mina. Hart then wraps around Mina’s arms, keeping her on the ground before heading towards the corner, walking down the ropes and bumping into her in the clothesline. Mina then fights back, slams a sliding lariat into Heart and sends it to the mat. Mina then cuts out the heart with the corner. Mina then goes down the heart and then laughs the Storm before the match with a double or notebook leaving the ring.
Mina and Hart are back in the ring as Mina controls them and sends Heart to the mat. Mina then bumps into Hart with her elbow and tries to send her to the corner, but Hart blocks Mina. Mina then descends Hart and heads towards the corner to lock Mina onto the rope tarantula before the judge intervenes. Mina then hits a spinning backfist on Heart and sends Heart to the mat for two counts.
Hart returns to her feet, blocking the gorgeous driver from Mina and dragging Mina into the corner for Moonsalt, but Mina leaves. Hart may have tweaked her knees on landing as Mina dropped her on the mat, but Hart counters the nearby fall submission hold. Mina backs up and hits a spin backfist with Heart before going to the charming driver, but Heart counters with two counts. Mina then becomes free and holds her heart firmly for victory.
Singles match winner Mina Shirakawa!
After the match, Hart recovered to interrupt the celebration, Sky Blue joined her and defeated Mina before Storm entered the ring for a save. Storm then sends blue out of the ring, then lays out the heart with punches, and Mina does the same to hold her down. This will continue to stare between Mina and Tonistorm, and they try to give each other the upper hand before Mina holds the championship. Mina is then locked around the ring post to Figure 4, and the storm gets caught in the corner as the judge and Luther try to intervene. Mina then finally breaks the hold and retracts the lamp as the music plays. Afterwards, Luther gets a summary of the collision and checks Storm, and he heads back.
The young Bucks are on their way out the door and they make the mistake of ocking OPPS, who promises to come after them, but this proves it’s expensive as Hobbs and Joe jump to them. This leads to behind the scenes where Death Rider is involved before Willow, Strickland and Shaibata also take part. Chaos then returns to ringside as he fights it, and Strickland takes Nicholas into the ring. The dynamite theme then plays as the brawl continues inside and outside the ring. Tonight is Anana before Anana, and will be held at Double or Nothing this Sunday. Chaos then continues with Moxley chasing Joe on the outside, but Babyface manages to fight back until Gabe Kidd appears on Blindside Samoa Joe.
Kid chases Omega in the ring as the young Bucks grabs the table from the outside before throwing the trash can with Omega. Then set up Omega and Strickland on two outer tables and drop them to pass through the table before the music appears. The power of the combination of Death Rider and Young Bucks appears to have the advantage that when dynamite approaches, it will enter a wild match set because it is double or nothing.
