Ex-TNA World Champion Sets Sights on Showdown with Iguana in AAA Ring

2 Min Read

Since WWE took over the Mexican wrestling promotion AAA in April 2025, no wrestler from AAA to WWE has captivated fans quite like Iguana. At 36 years old, Iguana has impressed audiences with his striking look, his adorable pet La Jesca, and his high-flying skills that rival the best luchadores on the AAA roster.

Former TNA World Champion Joe Hendry recently spoke on the Battlegrounds podcast, expressing his strong desire to team up with Iguana—not just in the ring but beyond. Hendry lamented that AAA has not featured a tag match with them together yet and suggested that although he usually partners with Elijah, making an exception for Iguana is worth it.

Hendry’s disappointment stems from the fact that he and Iguana were both at the AAA Triple Mania Legia event on June 15th, but Iguana was focused on teaming with Nino Hamburg and Elle’s finances for a trios match against the Bad Boys. Meanwhile, Hendry quickly secured a victory in a four-way match for the title held by Moose, who bested competitors Hermesis and Dr. El Hijode Wagner Jr. Since AAA is now owned by WWE and TNA maintains a collaborative relationship with WWE, the chance of a crossover match between Iguana and Hendry likely isn’t far off.

Fan Take: This news excites WWE fans as it hints at fresh and dynamic tag team possibilities, blending luchador style with established TNA talent. Such crossover matches could invigorate the wrestling scene with new storytelling and high-octane action, benefiting the sport overall.
