Top AEW star Bobby Lashley has revealed his interest in mixing things up by stepping into both MMA and boxing arenas. Known primarily for his wrestling stints with WWE, TNA, and now AEW, Lashley also boasts a solid MMA record of 15-2-0, having competed in Strikeforce and Bellator from 2008 to 2016. In a conversation with WFAA, he shared that he’s considering a return to MMA for a fight or two while also expressing a desire to try his hand at boxing. Although he’s unsure of how his future plans will evolve, Lashley emphasized that he isn’t looking to fight extensively due to family concerns but believes he still has some competitive fire left. He stated, “I won’t fight 10 fights, but one or two more seems right. I love boxing and would like to participate in at least one boxing match.”
Following a successful WWE run from 2018 to 2024, Lashley debuted in AEW in October and currently holds the AEW World Tag Team Championship alongside Shelton Benjamin as part of the Heart Syndicate. They are set to defend their title against Jetspeed (Kevin Knight & Speedball Mike Bailey) and The Patriarchy (Christian Cage & Nick Wayne), as confirmed on the latest AEW Collision episode.
Fan Take: Lashley’s potential crossover into boxing and a return to MMA is exciting news for AEW fans, highlighting the versatility and competitive spirit within the promotion. This could open doors for more intriguing cross-discipline bouts and elevate AEW’s profile in the combat sports world.
