The 2025 AEW premium live event schedule has reportedly been altered. Next weekend features a packed wrestling calendar with four major events from WWE and AEW. On Saturday, July 12th, WWE will present the NXT Great American Bash in Atlanta, Georgia, while AEW will hold its inaugural stadium event in North America at Globe Life Field, Texas. The following night, July 13th, WWE’s all-women’s premium live event, Evolution, returns at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena. Initially set for July 5th before WWE’s Evolution was officially announced, the date was changed.
Dave Meltzer explained on Twitter that WWE shifted Evolution’s date to avoid having three major shows on the same weekend and to stay competitive with AEW’s Texas event if it took place on Sunday. RAW general manager Adam Pearce recently revealed a notable title defense for Evolution where Becky Lynch will defend the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria. Meanwhile, AEW’s collision event added two title matches: Adam Cole will defend the TNT Championship against Kyle Fletcher, and the Heart Syndicate, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin, will face Jet Speed (Kevin Knight & Speedball Mike Bailey) and Christian Cage for the AEW World Team title.
Fan Take: This scheduling shuffle highlights the intense competition between WWE and AEW, signaling how both companies are strategically positioning their events to maximize viewership. For AEW fans, it underscores the company’s growing ambition with a landmark stadium show that could significantly elevate AEW’s status in the pro wrestling world.
