Tony Kahn Addresses Britt Baker’s Missing Presence on AEW Television

2 Min Read

AEW President Tony Khan addressed the situation surrounding Dr. Britt Baker from DMD, responding to concerns about her extended absence from AEW programming during a Texas media call. Khan dismissed rumors suggesting she might be leaving the promotion.

“I’ve never discussed Britt leaving AEW. I really like Britt,” Khan stated.

He then used a sports analogy to clarify why skilled wrestlers like Baker might not always appear on television.

“In baseball, you use nine players at a time. In the NFL, there are 11 players on the field. Wrestling is different because the number of performers can vary, but there are still limited spots available on a show,” Khan explained. “We don’t use every wrestler each time. There are many talented performers who are like bench players and don’t make it into the majority of the shows. This applies to many women and men not currently in the spotlight.”

Khan revealed that his aim for 2025 is to create a “tough, focused show” without forcing every wrestler to appear weekly. He also hinted that Baker could return when the timing feels right.

“Britt is an excellent example of a very talented individual, and we can showcase her in AEW when circumstances align. Just like in professional sports, there are talented players who don’t start every game at any given time.”

Fan Take: This update reassures AEW fans that Britt Baker’s absence isn’t a sign of her leaving but rather a strategic decision in a competitive roster environment. It highlights AEW’s commitment to quality over quantity, which could lead to more exciting and curated wrestling shows as they prepare for 2025.
