Gabe Kidd Makes Triumphant AEW Comeback, Steps Into Trios Title Match Spotlight

2 Min Read

The AEW World Trios Championship match scheduled for Saturday in Texas has reportedly expanded, as revealed on Wednesday’s episode of “AEW Dynamite.” NJPW star Gabe Kidd is expected to join the match as part of the Death Riders, stepping in because PAC remains sidelined due to injury and won’t be able to compete at the pay-per-view event.

According to Fightful Select, the current Trios champions, OPPS—Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Shibata—will defend their titles against Death Rider faction members in matches yet to be fully announced. During Wednesday’s “Dynamite” broadcast, it was reported that Kidd will team up with Wheeler Yuta and Claudio Castagnoli in the bout.

Kidd previously collaborated with Moxley and the Death Riders ahead of the Anarchy in the Arena match, appearing with Moxley’s group in the chaotic contest, though he was not officially part of that match. As of now, AEW President Tony Khan has not confirmed any new additions to the event’s card. This match could potentially be made official on “AEW Collision,” airing this Thursday at 8 PM EST.

Fan Take: Gabe Kidd’s inclusion in this high-profile Trios Championship match adds fresh energy and intrigue to AEW’s trios division, especially with the unexpected absence of PAC. This move not only heightens anticipation for the title bout but also showcases AEW’s growing talent pool, promising exciting developments for fans and the sport itself.
