Another wrestler is set to join WWE stars Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns in upcoming Hollywood films. The live-action adaptation of Street Fighter is gearing up to begin filming, with casting decisions already sparking excitement among wrestling enthusiasts.
Roman Reigns was the first wrestler announced for the project, taking on the role of Akuma. Shortly after, his prominent WWE rival Cody Rhodes was cast as Guile. However, the film’s cast features a true “Forbidden Door” collaboration, as another wrestler from outside WWE is joining the lineup.
According to Fightful Select, former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Hirooki Goto from New Japan Pro Wrestling has been cast to portray E Honda. Goto won his first IWGP World Heavyweight Championship in February by defeating Zack Saber Jr. but lost the title back to him at Tanahashi Jam on June 29.
Fan Take: This crossover between top wrestling stars and Hollywood highlights the growing influence of wrestlers beyond the ring, blending entertainment forms. For WWE fans, it signals more mainstream exposure for their favorite athletes and could open doors for more wrestling talent to gain recognition in the film industry.
