Following the results of last weekend’s Texas pay-per-view event, AEW President Tony Khan declared it the best show the company has ever produced. In a recent interview, Khan reflected on the event’s success and highlighted the AEW Women’s World Championship match for special praise.
Speaking to 103.5 Kiss FM, Khan celebrated the event held at Globe Life Field in Arlington, pointing to the record-breaking numbers as a key indicator of its triumph.
"This has been the best show we’ve ever put on, and it all happened in Texas," Khan said. "This is the largest pay-per-view I’ve ever witnessed on Amazon Prime, one of the biggest pay-per-view events ever, and it attracted one of the largest crowds to date. Hosting such a massive audience has been an incredible experience here in North America."
Khan also singled out the AEW Women’s World Championship match between Toni Storm and Mercedes Moné, calling it a "timeless" contest and one of his favorites. He expressed interest in seeing a rematch between these two top-tier wrestlers.
"We have the outstanding women’s champion, the ‘timeless’ Toni Storm, who defeated Mercedes Moné, one of the best wrestlers," Khan commented. "In my view, they are the top two women in wrestling today. That match was certainly a five-star classic, and I’d love to see a rematch down the line."
Khan’s enthusiastic comments follow a momentous night in Arlington, Texas. Alongside Storm’s successful title defense, "Hangman" Adam Page triumphed over Jon Moxley in a brutal Texas Death Match to claim the AEW World Championship, and Okada Okada became the first-ever AEW Unified Champion, marking a surprising return for Adam Copeland.
Fan Take: This landmark event demonstrates AEW’s growing stature in the wrestling world, thrilling fans with historic matches and unforgettable moments. It signals a bright future for the promotion, promising even bigger storylines and rivalries that could redefine the sport.
