The Godfather recently shared the one wrestling moment that truly broke his heart during an interview on the No Contest Wrestling Podcast. The WWE Hall of Famer discussed various topics, including the tragic death of Owen Hart and the beginning of his wrestling career. When asked about which wrestling moments affected him deeply, he admitted he’s generally not a big fan of the evolving wrestling business. However, if he had to pick one moment, it was the end of The Undertaker’s iconic WrestleMania winning streak, which was ended by Brock Lesnar in 2014.
He explained, “I wasn’t really a fan to that extent, so it didn’t break my heart. But I was surprised that Taker lost to Brock. What’s funny is that despite talking about everything in the world with him, wrestling wasn’t on the list, so I never knew he was going to lose that night.”
The Godfather also revealed he wasn’t with The Undertaker immediately after that match. He stated that The Undertaker suffered a concussion during the bout and didn’t seem well afterward. He said, “I didn’t see him until the next day as I was heading to the airport. He told me he was going to the hospital, but he insisted he was fine and wanted to go home instead. I think he was in the hospital for a few days. Even if my heart was broken, he wasn’t around the next morning. I know him well, and I could tell something was wrong. He had a really bad concussion and doesn’t even remember the whole match.”
Fan Take: This revelation highlights the physical toll wrestling legends endure for the sport’s iconic moments, deepening fans’ appreciation of their sacrifices. It also underscores the emotional weight behind career-defining matches, reminding fans why stories and legacies matter so much in WWE.
