Jim Ross Triumphs in Crafting Bill Goldberg’s Memorable Retirement Moment

Jim Ross has expressed skepticism about Goldberg’s recent retirement, hinting that the former WCW and WWE world champion may not be done with professional wrestling just yet.

During the latest episode of his Grill JR Podcast, Ross talked about Goldberg’s main event match against Gunther on Saturday night. Although it was promoted as a retirement match, Ross thinks Goldberg could still make an appearance in AEW if given thoughtful booking and the right opponent.

He emphasized Goldberg’s maintained physical condition and unique talents, particularly his ability to deliver well-structured matches and compelling presentations, as strengths that could lead to future roles in wrestling.

"I feel like there’s a chance we’ll see Goldberg again. I’m not sure in what form, but I don’t believe he’s done," Ross said.

Since retirements in wrestling often aren’t permanent, Goldberg’s disappointment with how his WWE farewell unfolded might inspire him to shape a more satisfying final chapter in his career.

Ross added, "If booked correctly and not overexposed, Billy could certainly go back after something, especially with the right opponent. He’s proven he can draw crowds and is a truly unique talent."

Ross also suggested that Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) could be the perfect final adversary for Goldberg, considering MJF more fitting for the role than Gunther.

"I wouldn’t rule it out at this point. There’s still a chance. Perhaps the right opponent could be someone like MJF from AEW," he explained.

Fan Take: This speculation about Goldberg’s potential return is exciting news for WWE fans, as it keeps alive the possibility of seeing a legendary figure back in the spotlight. If Goldberg does appear in AEW, it could intensify the rivalry between wrestling promotions and add fresh intrigue to the sport’s evolving landscape.
