Slammiversary’s AJ Styles return to TNA is officially set, but not everyone is rolling out the red carpet.
The exterior of Bust open radioTNA World Champion Trick Williams didn’t underestimate when asked about his incredible comeback.
The host pitched a scenario in which AJ stands up to Trick after his Slammiversary Title Defense. The trick quickly fired, framing the return of style as an opportunistic move now that TNA is on fire.
“Hey, every dog has a day. AJ is spending the day, but now there’s a new lion on the mountain. There’s a new lion on top of the Pride Rock. I think we’re in the moment when TNA is about to break these records, we’re doing crazy things.
But the trick didn’t stop there. He reminded listeners of recent promotions in Atlanta. There, fans chanted AJ’s name and asked who the greatest TNA champion of all time was. Instead of being gradual, Trick used it as a motive to solidify his legacy.
“I called him on several podcasts. We were in Atlanta. What was it last week? – I told everyone, ‘Who is the best TNA champion of all time?’ And the crowd decided to chant the name AJ Styles.
Carlos Silva also worked on the return on AJ Styles on the same show, explaining why the announcement was delayed. According to Silva, they had to finalize all the logistics to bring AJ to New York. With speculation swirling about whether AJ Francis or style being teased, they finally called to let the fans know that it was in fact that AJ.
As they turn the corner for glory, speculation is running that Style can step into tricks for the TNA World Championships. If that conflict arises, it’s not just nostalgia. It will be a power struggle for the soul of the company.
