Why the Young Bucks Faced Defeat in Texas AEW: The Untold Truth Revealed

2 Min Read

AEW Texas has disclosed the reasons behind The Young Bucks losing their match and their EVP (Executive Vice President) roles. On July 12th, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson were defeated by Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland at an AEW Pay-Per-View event. This loss also resulted in The Young Bucks losing their on-screen authority positions. According to the Wrestling Observer newsletter, the outcome was part of a planned storyline to conclude The Young Bucks’ role as on-screen executives.

Dave Meltzer reported that the match aimed to phase out The Young Bucks’ authority status, allowing them to focus solely on their success as a top wrestling tag team. Meltzer also mentioned that Swerve Strickland might gain support from Adam Page, who played a significant role in the main Pay-Per-View event. While The Young Bucks were reportedly reluctant to lose the match, the final call rested with Tony Khan, AEW’s creative lead.

The newsletter also noted that Will Ospreay will be sidelined for a while due to injuries. Following their Texas loss, The Young Bucks teamed with the Don Karis family (Hexelo & Joshu Alexander) to secure a victory over Bandido, Brody King, and Jetspeed (Kevin Knight & Mike Bailey) on the July 16th episode of Dynamite.

Fan Take: This shift marks a significant change in AEW’s storytelling, focusing on fresh dynamics and new rivalries. Fans should watch closely as The Young Bucks transition back to pure wrestling roles, potentially elevating the in-ring action and creating exciting new matchups in AEW.
