WWE Unreal Challenges Everything I’ve Ever Believed In

WWE Unreal aims to provide an unmatched insight into the creative workings behind the wrestling giants, though its concept has divided the fanbase. On the Progressive Podcast, CM Punk expressed discomfort with the new show, emphasizing that wrestling is his profession and something traditionally protected by insiders.

He explained, "It’s my profession, my wrestling, what you were taught and you grew up, and if you’re old school, you’re protecting the business. That’s always been the case."

Punk sees WWE Unreal as revealing too much of the business side and, despite fans knowing wrestling is scripted, he believes the series crosses a boundary he was never taught to breach.

He added, "It’s really weird to me, at least for me, because I’ve always been taught to protect my business. You should not put insiders in all the insider information."

Despite Punk’s reservations, WWE still includes him in WWE Unreal, with top talents featured in the show’s trailer. Punk admitted that filming the show is uncomfortable for him.

"We saw the trailer just before we got here. I could feel my face right away. I’m a bright red. I’m sweating. I never knew when they were filming."

WWE Unreal is set to premiere on July 29th, promising an unprecedented look behind the scenes of wrestling, although CM Punk remains doubtful about this approach.

Fan Take: This news is significant for WWE fans as it signals a bold shift toward more transparent storytelling within the wrestling world, potentially changing how the sport’s inner workings are perceived. However, it also raises questions about preserving the mystique that has long been a cornerstone of wrestling’s appeal.
