EW star MJF has jumped into WWE’s biggest rivalry, using the radio to praise Becky Lynch, his co-star in the upcoming movie Happy Gilmore 2, while taking shots at her Summerslam opponent, Laila Valkyria.
On a podcast called Busted Open Radio, MJF expressed where his loyalty lies in the ongoing WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship feud. He showed strong support for Lynch but was critical of Valkyria, saying, “I’m a huge fan of Becky Lynch. I can’t stand this Lyra (Valkyria) girl. I agree with Becky. If you have a problem with Becky Lynch, then I have a problem with you. There’s something off about this Lyra girl. She’s probably not a good person.”
When asked if he had spent time with Lynch on the set of Happy Gilmore 2, MJF said they have a close friendship. “Yeah, Becky and I are good friends,” he confirmed. Both are featured in the film, which will be released on Netflix on Friday, July 25th.
MJF’s remarks come as the feud between Lynch and Valkyria heats up. On this week’s RAW, it was announced that the Women’s Intercontinental Championship match at SummerSlam will be a count-out match with no disqualifications. Meanwhile, MJF is also making moves towards AEW Championship gold, having won a casino gauntlet match at pay-per-view that secured him future shots at the AEW World Championship.
