Former WWE star Sonya Deville has announced her retirement from wrestling, at least for the time being. She parted ways with WWE earlier this year, with reports in February confirming that WWE was informed she would not be renewing her contract. In a conversation with Chris Van Vriette, Deville shared that she does not plan to wrestle elsewhere due to her loyalty to WWE. She said, “Absolutely for now. Never say never, but right now I feel at peace with it. Wrestling has been my home from age 21 to 31, and being so committed to WWE makes the idea of wrestling elsewhere strange. I’m loyal to the company, so it’s just not something I’m considering.”
Deville had been part of WWE for nearly ten years, first appearing in June 2015 on Tough Enough and officially signing in October 2015 before debuting on televised NXT in August 2016.
Fan Take: Sonya Deville’s retirement marks the end of an era for a dedicated and beloved WWE talent. This development is significant for fans as it highlights the emotional ties wrestlers have to WWE and could signal shifts in the industry as loyal athletes evaluate their career paths beyond the ring.
