WWE Unveils Yet Another Exciting New Identity for El Grande Americano

2 Min Read

On the July 28th episode of WWE Raw in Detroit, yet another wrestler stepped into the role of El Grande Americano. Originally, Chad Gable was the man behind the mask, but following surgery, he was sidelined for several months. In his absence, Ludwig Kaiser took on the El Grande Americano persona, even making a recent appearance at Mexican AAA, where the character was well received by fans. During the Raw episode, members of the LWO faction, Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro, clashed with both Kaiser’s and the Americano’s incarnations—Finbar and JD McDonagh—who were competing for the World Tag Team Championship. During the match, Kaiser confronted the LWO, only for Dragon Lee to intervene. To complicate matters, yet another masked figure joined the fray, with Baroai and McDonagh holding the titles by match end.

The latest wrestler playing El Grande Americano appears to be Pete Dunne, who has been mostly absent from WWE TV since April apart from matches on WWE’s YouTube show. His new masked look differs from previous versions, leaving it unclear if he is indeed continuing as El Grande Americano or adopting a wholly new masked character. If Dunne is continuing the role, it humorously means a British wrestler is portraying a German who is portraying a Mexican. Despite these changes, the El Grande Americano character remains the WWE Speed Champion, a title first claimed by Chad Gable in early May.

Fan Take: This ongoing evolution of El Grande Americano adds an intriguing layer of mystery and versatility to the character, keeping fans guessing and engaged. For WWE enthusiasts, this dynamic could lead to fresh storylines and exciting crossovers, enriching the sport’s entertainment value and showcasing the adaptability of its performers.
