WWE Shares Exciting New Developments Following SummerSlam Event

Many fans still sympathize with CM Punk regarding what happened to him at WWE SummerSlam. After Gunther lost the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Seth Rollins appeared and smartly cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to claim the title.

As reported earlier, Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Radio revealed that Gunther was already nursing a nose injury ahead of his match with Punk. The injury worsened when Punk tripped him, causing Gunther to crash into the announce table, resulting in a bloody scene.

Michael Cole provided an injury update on the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, announcing that Gunther will be sidelined indefinitely due to a “septal hematoma and trajectory blowout fracture” suffered at SummerSlam. Unlike Seth Rollins’ fake knee injury, Gunther’s condition is genuine, which explains why fans haven’t seen him rush down the ramp to reclaim his title. Rollins cleverly duped many by pretending to be injured for three weeks before seizing the championship, ending Punk’s hopes.

The big question now is what Gunther will do when he makes his return. It’s uncertain whether Seth Rollins will still be champion by then, though it’s likely. Gunther’s prior reign as heavyweight champion wasn’t shocking until he defeated Damien Priest for the title and maintained control until WrestleMania 41, where he lost to Jay Uso.

Before that, Gunther made WWE history by becoming the longest-reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion at 666 days, surpassing the late 80s record of 454 days held by WWE Hall of Famer Honky Tonkman. Earlier in his career, wrestling as Walter in NXT UK, he held the NXT UK Championship for 870 days, breaking the previous 685-day record held by Pete Dunne. It’s doubtful anyone will surpass Gunther’s records unless WWE revives the NXT UK brand.

While his heavyweight title reign was impressive, it could be exciting to see Gunther team up with Ludwig Kaiser to chase tag team gold, giving Kaiser some much-needed support. Before adopting his El Grande American persona, Kaiser was part of the WWE Main Event brand. Regardless of what unfolds, Gunther’s talent ensures he won’t be overlooked.

Fan Take: This situation is a pivotal moment for WWE fans as it shows the unpredictable nature of wrestling and the brutal toll it can take on athletes like Gunther. His injury and absence could reshape championship dynamics, while his eventual comeback promises thrilling storylines and potential record-breaking feats.
